Duties and Functions: To provide advice to Council each year about the preparation, implementation and effectiveness of the municipality’s accessibility plan. They meet as required and co-ordinated by Recreation, Parks and Culture Staff a minimum of three (3) times a year. The Accessibility Advisory Committee reports through the Recreation, Parks and Culture Committee.
Duties and Functions: Responsible for advising Council on the operation, management and capital requirements for the arenas within Prince Edward County, and to actively promote their use and value to the community. Meeting dates are determined by the Committee. The Arena Advisory Committee reports through the Recreation, Parks and Culture Committee.
Duties and Functions: The Prince Edward County Cemetery Board is responsible for the administration, management, care, maintenance, and improvement of all municipal cemeteries in the County of Prince Edward in accordance with the Cemeteries Act (revised), R.S.O. 1990, Chapter C.4. The Board will engage and appoint managers, employees or agents to carry out the instructions of the Board. The Board and the Clerk will keep registers, records, and books as are necessary for properly recording all acts, interment rights certificates and matters pertaining to the cemeteries. They meet at the call of the chair. The Cemetery Board reports through the Recreation, Parks and Culture Committee.
Duties and Functions: To negotiate with the federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans regarding the divestiture of federal harbour properties in the County of Prince Edward. They meet as required. The Harbour Divestiture Committee reports through the Recreation, Parks and Culture Committee.
Duties and Functions: To advise Council on the operation and development of municipally operated harbours and marinas in the County of Prince Edward. They meet as required. The Harbour Advisory Committee reports through the Recreation, Parks and Culture Committee.
Duties and Functions: To serve as Council’s resource and catalyst for the development of the County of Prince Edward Millennium Trail. They meet as required, with a minimum of 4 (four) meetings per year. The Millennium Trail Committee reports through the Recreation, Parks and Culture Committee.
Duties and Functions: The Museum Advisory Committee represents the five museums within the jurisdiction of the County of Prince Edward and is dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of the history of Prince Edward County.
Specifically, the Prince Edward County Museum Advisory Committee will:
Recommend policy for the operation of the museums and other culturally based functions;
Develop and recommend operation budgets;
Develop and implement promotion and marketing strategies;
The mandate of the museums within the County of Prince Edward shall be to increase the knowledge and understanding of the history of Prince Edward County in all its facets by actively pursuing the establishment, expansion and maintenance of their collections. Also, the museums will provide a basis for exhibition and educational programs, for research and study, and for the cultural and educational enrichment of the County of Prince Edward. They meet on the 1st Thursday of the month at various times at the different museum sites. The Museum Advisory Committee reports through the Recreation, Parks and Culture Committee.
Out of County Commercial Enterprises Ad-Hoc Committee
Duties and Functions: To investigate and report to the appropriate standing committees regarding a policy on renting municipal facilities to "out of County" commercial enterprises. They meet as required.
Physical Activity Plan Project Ad-Hoc Steering Committee
Duties and Functions: To provide overall direction and support for the development of a Physical Activity Plan that will be appropriate for all County of Prince Edward residents reflecting the specific target groups of low income children and youth, families, women and girls, seniors/older adults, and persons with disabilities. They meet as required. The Physical Activity Plan Project Steering Committee will report through the Recreation, Parks and Culture.
Duties and Functions: The County of Prince Edward Library Board is responsible for the management and direction of the public libraries of the County of Prince Edward in accordance with the Public Libraries Act, RSO 1990, c 44, as amended. The library board meets once a month. The Library Board reports through the Recreation, Parks and Culture Committee.
Duties and Functions: The nine Ward Recreation Committees (listed above) serve as sub-committees to the County Recreation Advisory Committee. The purpose of the Ward Recreation Committees is to develop, co-ordinate and support recreation programs and activities for the residents of their Wards. To represent the Ward Recreation Committees and advise the Recreation, Parks and Culture Committee on matters concerning recreation programs and activities in the County. The Committee will meet a minimum of 8 (eight) times per year, or at the call of the Chair. For meeting purposes, a quorum will consist of 6 (six) members being present. The Recreation Advisory Committee reports through the Recreation, Parks and Culture Committee.
Duties and Functions: To advise and assist in the establishment and operation of the Prince Edward County Specialized Transit Service. Meeting Dates are as determined by the Committee. The Specialized Transit Advisory Committee reports through the Recreation, Parks and Culture Committee.
Duties and Functions: To serve as Council's resource and catalyst for the development of a Volunteer Strategy that will be appropriate for all County departments providing volunteers with support and recognition. They meet as required. The Volunteer Strategy Ad Hoc Committee reports through the Recreation, Parks and Culture Committee.
Wellington & District Community Centre Replacement Project Steering Committee
Purpose: To serve as the co-ordinating and reporting body for the wellington & district community centre replacement project. The Wellington & District Community Centre Replacement Project Steering Committee meets as deemed Necessary In Order To Report To Recreation, Parks And Culture Committee On Monthly Basis
Wellington & District Community Centre Replacement Project Site/Design Sub-Committee
Purpose: To develop and implement a fundraising strategy for the wellington & district community centre replacement project, for the steering committee’s review and recommendation. The Wellington & District Community Centre Replacement Project Project Site/Design Sub-Committee meets as deemed Necessary In Order To Report To Recreation, Parks And Culture Committee On Monthly Basis
Wellington & District Community Centre Replacement Project Fundraising Sub-Committee
Purpose: To develop and implement a fundraising strategy for the wellington & district community centre replacement project, for the steering committee’s review and recommendation. The Wellington & District Community Centre Replacement Project Project Fundraising Sub-Committee meets as deemed necessary.
Purpose: To represent all youth in the County by advising Council on any matter(s) pertaining to youth. The Committee will undertake any other advisory duties as requested by Council with the common goal of making the County a better place for all youth. They meet monthly, or as required. The Prince Edward County Youth Advisory Committee will report through the Recreation, Parks and Culture Committee.
Duties and Functions: The Youth Park Committee is responsible for the operation, management, and future developments of the County Youth Park and to promote its use and value to the community in partnership with County Council. They are responsible for preparing a Youth park Operational Plan each year for Council endorsement through the Recreation, Parks and Culture Committee. They meet at the call of the chair. The Youth Park Committee reports through the Recreation, Parks and Culture Committee.
