Duties and Functions: To provide advice to Council each year about the preparation, implementation and effectiveness of the municipality’s accessibility plan. They meet as required and co-ordinated by Recreation, Parks and Culture Staff a minimum of three (3) times a year. The Accessibility Advisory Committee reports through the Recreation, Parks and Culture Committee.
Duties and Functions: The Prince Edward County Cemetery Advisory Committee is responsible for the administration, management, care, maintenance, and improvement of all municipal cemeteries in the County of Prince Edward in accordance with the Cemeteries Act (revised), R.S.O. 1990, Chapter C.4. The Committee will engage and appoint managers, employees or agents to carry out the instructions of the Committee. The Committee and the Clerk will keep registers, records, and books as are necessary for properly recording all acts, interment rights certificates and matters pertaining to the cemeteries. They meet at the call of the chair. The Cemetery Board reports through the Recreation, Parks and Culture Committee.
Statement and Purpose: The Museum Advisory Committee is established to provide volunteer input and expertise for the Museums of Prince Edward County within the jurisdiction of the Corporation of the County of Prince Edward.
Duties and Functions: The County of Prince Edward Museum Advisory Committee shall advise and make recommendations to Council through the Recreation Parks & Culture Committee on matters dealing with:
1. Promoting public appreciation of the rich historical heritage of the communities within the County of Prince Edward.
2. Encouraging the preservation of the County's heritage in all forms and processes, including but not limited to written records, photographs, maps, architectural drawings, film footage, sound recordings, and documentary art.
3. Providing input into the strategic objectives, action plan and annual review of the museums' long term strategic plan.
4. Developing and implementing fundraising initiatives to assist with capital repairs/upgrades and exhibit development.
5. Developing and implementing special projects furthering public awareness of and enjoyment of the heritage of the County and its people.
6. Developing policies and practices relating to: museum operations, programming, marketing, financial management, volunteer management, collection management and conservation of artifacts.
Duties and Functions: The County of Prince Edward Library Board is responsible for the management and direction of the public libraries of the County of Prince Edward in accordance with the Public Libraries Act, RSO 1990, c 44, as amended. The library board meets once a month. The Library Board reports through the Recreation, Parks and Culture Committee.
Duties and Functions: The nine Ward Recreation Committees (listed above) serve as sub-committees to the County Recreation Advisory Committee. The purpose of the Ward Recreation Committees is to develop, co-ordinate and support recreation programs and activities for the residents of their Wards. To represent the Ward Recreation Committees and advise the Recreation, Parks and Culture Committee on matters concerning recreation programs and activities in the County. The Committee will meet a minimum of 8 (eight) times per year, or at the call of the Chair. For meeting purposes, a quorum will consist of 6 (six) members being present. The Recreation Advisory Committee reports through the Recreation, Parks and Culture Committee.
Duties and Functions: To serve as Council's resource and catalyst for the development of a Volunteer Strategy that will be appropriate for all County departments providing volunteers with support and recognition. They meet as required. The Volunteer Strategy Ad Hoc Committee reports through the Recreation, Parks and Culture Committee.
Duties and Functions: To assist the Recreation, Parks and Culture Department with determining operational practices, improvements, environmental enhancements, changes and events/activities at the Youth Park. The Advisory Committee will provide a report to Council through the Committee of the Whole twice annually, in April and October (report to be prepared by Manager of Parks and Arenas).
