The Recreation, Parks and Culture Department provides quality leadership and facilitation services while ensuring the provision of a diverse and appropriate array of accessible programs, services and facilities. Department initiatives support Active Living Lifestyles for residents and encourage community capacity building which in turn, enables the effective management of human, financial, physical and natural resources.

The department’s services and responsibilities include:

Recreation Trails

Museums Harbours, Marinas and Boat Launches
Volunteers Arenas
Parks Community Halls/Theatre

The department works co-operatively with numerous community volunteer organizations, advisory committees and agencies to provide residents with active living opportunities and facilities promoting longevity and vitality throughout the community. Community capacity building provides residents with the opportunity to invest in their community through participation, volunteerism, leadership and support programs. Opportunities to participate represent the core of the department’s services and is the fundamental rationale for the County’s investment in the provision of the Recreation, Parks and Culture Department.
