Strategic Cultural Plan
A Strategic Economic Development Plan prepared for Prince Edward County in 2004 identified “Arts, Culture and Heritage” as an element of Prince Edward County’s economy and noted that it was significantly underdeveloped relative to it’s economic potential. In this context, in November 2004 Council approved the development of a Strategic Cultural Plan for the County.
More than 300 County residents participated in the development of the plan through surveys, interviews and public meetings. The Plan sets out a planning framework to support collaboration between the municipality and its community and business partners.
In 2005 Prince Edward County Council adopted the Cultural Strategic Plan (CSP). This plan, which includes a working group, the Cultural Round Table, recently won in the Strategic Plans category at the Economic Developer’s Council of Ontario’s annual conference, and has positioned Prince Edward County as a leader in Municipal Cultural Planning.
The Cultural Round Table has become a crucible for connecting and
mobilizing cultural energy and resources. Working Groups of the Round Table have produced initiatives including a County "Cultural Rally" and a map of Cultural Resources in the County.
Vist the Cultural Round Table website to learn more about these and other activities.
