Applications
Applications for admission to a Long Term Care Facility
must be made through your local Community Care Access Centre (CCAC).
The placement staff at the CCAC will provide and assist you with information and advice on the admission process.
Wait times for admission to a Long Term Care Facility will vary, dependent on what area of the Province you may reside.
Choosing a Long Term Care Facility for yourself or a loved on can be a difficult and stressful time. So obtaining as much information before hand will assist you in making an informed choice.
You will be asked by placement staff to tour several Long Term Care Facilities and make some choices. This is an important step and gives you the opportunity to see the different facilities.
It is always advisable to book an appointment ahead of time so the facility can set aside time to answer your questions and take you on a tour.
Making An Informed Choice – The 'not-for-profit' difference.
In Ontario, long term care services are provided by not-for-profit organizations as well as for profit operators. Both are funded by the provincial government, but there are fundamental differences.
It is important that you understand these differences, so when the time comes, you will be able to make an informed choice about the care of your loved one.
Not-for-profit means:
• Re-investment in care
• Strong community support
• Choice for Ontarians
• Innovation and Excellence
